1. Highlight the L4D demo in your steam games list.
2. Right click and select “Properties”
3. Click “Set launch options”
4. In the text box type
-w <640> -h <800>
and hit ok
5. Start the game. It should launch in a low resolution state
6. Set the resolution from the options to your desired resolution
7. And enjoy!
