Easy downloading with one click
When you click on a download link in a browser, IDM will take over the download and accelerate it. You don’t need to do anything special; browse the Internet as you usually do. IDM will catch your downloads and accelerate them. IDM supports HTTP, FTP, HTTPS, and MMS protocols.
Dark theme
The IDM dark theme renders surfaces dark across most of its UI. It was designed as a supplemental mode for the default (or light) theme. The dark theme reduces the luminance emitted by your screen, while still meeting minimum colour contrast ratios. It improves visual ergonomics by reducing eye strain, adjusting brightness to ambient light, and enabling screen use in dark environments while conserving power.
Dynamic segmentation
Internet Download Manager has optimised file download logic. IDM dynamically divides the downloaded file into segments, unlike other download accelerators that divide it only at the start of the download. Dynamic segmentation delivers significant improvements in download performance. When the file download starts, it’s unclear how many connections may be opened. When a new connection becomes available, IDM identifies the most significant segment to download and splits it in half. Thus, a new connection starts downloading the file from the middle of the largest file segment. IDM minimises negotiation time with servers and keeps all connections active.
Download Resume
Internet Download Manager will resume unfinished downloads from the place where they left off. Comprehensive error recovery and resume capability restarts broken or interrupted downloads caused by lost or dropped connections, network issues, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages.
Built-in Scheduler
Internet Download Manager can connect to the Internet at a set time, download the files you want, disconnect, or shut down your computer when it’s done. You can also synchronise changes by periodically syncing files. It’s possible to create and schedule several download queues for downloading or synchronisation.
IDM includes a website spider and a grabber
IDM downloads all required files that are specified with filters from websites, for example, all pictures from a website, or subsets of websites, or complete websites for offline browsing. It’s possible to schedule multiple grabber projects to run them once at a specified time, stop them at a specified time, or run periodically to synchronise changes.
Customizable Interface
You can choose the order, buttons, and columns that appear in the main IDM window. There are several toolbar skins with different button styles. All skins can be downloaded from the IDM home site. Users can also design their own skins.

Antivirus scanning keeps your downloads free of viruses and trojans. IDM can automatically scan downloaded files upon completion, using tools such as AdAware, Avast, Spybot, AVG Anti-Virus, McAfee, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360, SpywareBlaster, CCleaner, and others to protect users from harmful downloads.
